I've been at two Triple Crown wins so far. Here are my trip stories and I hope to be at the Belmont Stakes every time there is a Triple Crown contender. Come with me for the next one.

2018 Triple Crown Day 3 Belmont Stakes Triple Crown
The LIRR train ride to Belmont was smooth and relaxing. It is great to see the different neighborhoods roll by and see the differences between being on the island to being on Long Island; plus, it is only around a half-hour trip. The ride to the track is very nice and everyone is happy and cheerful. The ride back is a little more testy with tired people and drunk people but generally pretty tame and civil.

Our seats were in the grandstands, covered. Covered seats are well worth the money. I think only about $160. After many years of going to the Kentucky Derby and two Triple Crowns, covered seating is a HUGE plus no matter the weather. With no cover, you will be miserable in cold rain, warm rain or in the hot sun. While covered seats at the Kentucky Derby are outrageously priced (although I think my krewe is going to spend the extra money for 2019), the prices for covered seating at the Belmont Stakes are very reasonable.

This video gives you a better idea of the excitement of being in the crowd at the Belmont Stakes Triple Crown race. Thanks Kevin for giving me a copy.
After a long day at the track and the short train ride back into the city and the short walk back to Times Square from Pennsylvania Station, Kelly insisted on Big Apple photos in Times Square. I substituted a bourbon (so we must have gone back to the hotel room first).
And, I think, that wrapped up our last night in New York City for the Belmont Stakes and the Triple Crown win by Justify.
